QUESTION: Where is the 2019 TBAAL Riverfront Jazz Festival taking place?

QUESTION: Where can I park?
ANSWER: Downtown Dallas has various parking options. Jazz Festival attendees may park in the Dallas Convention Center ground-level parking garage at the rate of $10 per vehicle entry. Metered lots are also available for festival attendees. Rates may vary. *Overnight parking for patrons is not permitted.
QUESTION: Is this an outside event?
ANSWER: No. The event will be held inside. Food trucks will be located outside to accommodate festival attendees.
QUESTION: Is this an alcohol-free event? Can I buy individual drinks or bottle service?
ANSWER: This is not an alcohol-free event. Individual drink purchases will be available. Bottle service is not available. Patrons are NOT permitted to bring any alcohol beverages on the premises.
QUESTION: How will I get to the festival grounds?
ANSWER: The festival address is 1309 Canton Street, Dallas, TX 75201. Patrons may choose ride share services via Uber, Lyft, taxi, or shuttle. Public transportation is available via Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) bus or DART rail.
QUESTION: Where can I park or get dropped off?
ANSWER: Festival attendees may choose to park in one of the parking lots across from The Black Academy of Arts and Letters, or if using ride share services, the drop-off/pick-up address is 1309 Canton Street, Dallas, TX 75201.

QUESTION: What do I get with the purchase of a VIP package?
ANSWER: Admission into the VIP entrance, daily colored wrist band, Open Seating in the VIP seating section, one complimentary Glass of Wine per person, per day, and a complimentary membership with The Black Academy of Arts and Letters at the Schomburg Scholars ($100) membership level.
QUESTION: Is there a VIP Bathroom?
QUESTION: When I purchase the VIP package, do I get a reserved seat?
ANSWER: The VIP section in its entirety is reserved, however, individual seats within the VIP section are open.
QUESTION: Are any VIP seats located in the balcony?
ANSWER: No. All VIP seats are floor seats, while general admission seats are balcony seats, with the exception of the Promising Young Artists stage.
QUESTION: When do I get my membership card?
ANSWER: Based on when the VIP package is purchased, patrons will either receive the plastic membership card by mail or patrons may pick up the temporary membership card at the VIP Membership table during the festival.
QUESTION: If I leave, can I return without paying again?
ANSWER: Yes, since it is an indoor event, festival attendees may make purchases from outside food trucks and food vendors and re-enter to enjoy additional performances.
QUESTION: If I purchase more than one VIP package, will I receive more than one Schomburg Scholars membership?
ANSWER: Yes. Even if a TBAAL member already has a Schomburg Scholars membership, they will receive a complimentary one with the purchase of each Riverfront Jazz Festival VIP ticket. Members have the option to decline the complimentary membership if they choose to do so.
QUESTION: What time will doors open?
ANSWER: Doors will open one hour before the festival start time.
QUESTION: Are refunds available?
ANSWER: No, refunds are not available. ALL SALES ARE FINAL. The Riverfront Jazz Festival will take place rain or shine. The Festival may delay the start, interrupt or even cancel a concert if an emergency (Act of God) occurs. Refunds are not given due to inclement weather (unless catastrophic).

ANSWER: Yes it is best to take DART to the Jazz Festival.
QUESTION: What are the parking options for patrons who drive to the Jazz Festival?
ANSWER: There is limited parking on a first come, first served basis in parking lots near The Black Academy of Arts and Letters Jazz Festival site (1309 Canton Street, Dallas, TX ). There is also the Griffin Street parking garage, but it has no in/out option. The parking rate is set by the City and is per vehicle.
QUESTION: If I take the DART Rail to the Kay Bailey Hutchinson Convention Center (Dallas Convention Ctr) what stop should I take to get to the Riverfront Jazz Festival?
ANSWER: DART Riders should take the Kay Bailey Convention Center Convention Center Station.

ANSWER: No, there is no smoking section at the festival.

QUESTION: Why are there no VIP reserved tables for sale on opening night (Friday, August 30th) of the festival?
ANSWER: All performances on opening night (Friday night) will take place on the Blues and Soul Stage in the Naomi Bruton Theatre, but there are three stages for the remaining performances of the festival (Saturday, August 31st and Sunday, September 1st). The $1,500 VIP reserved table for 10 is located on the Arena floor of the Jazz Main stage.
QUESTION: How do you see ALL artists if some of them are performing at the same time?
ANSWER: Each performance will be staggered 30 minutes between acts on two main stages (Jazz stage and the Blues/Soul Stage). The Promising Young Artists stage will be staggered 15 minutes between acts.

ANSWER: The festival is an indoor festival. Wheel chairs and mobility-assistance devices are allowed.
